Meeting God in Mark

Lent this year starts on Valentine’s Day and ends on April Fool’s Day!

Traditionally it is a time when Christians take fresh steps to understand their faith better, but this year’s Lent project is something anyone can share in.

We will be reading a few verses of St Mark’s Gospel each day. Free copies of the Gospel, together with a reading plan are available in church or from the Rector, the Revd Martin Short. Ring him on 830607 or email martin@stowrectory.org.uk.

For those who want to discuss what they have read, informal groups will be meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 8.00pm.

On Tuesdays we will meet in the Queen’s Head pub in Stow and on Wednesdays in the Upper Room of Stow Social Club in Well Lane.

For anyone wishing to delve deeper into the background of this remarkable book there will be another group meeting on Tuesday mornings. This group will not only chat about what we’ve read but also look at ‘Meeting God in Mark’ by Rowan Williams. This group will meet in the Rectory at 11.00am. Discounted copies of the book will be available from the Rector.

Valentine’s Day to April Fool’s Day. Will Mark’s Gospel be something you will fall in love with and enriches the rest of your life, or is Mark just leading us on?
