Mothers' Union

Mothers' Union is the largest international Christian organisation with over 4 million members across the world.

We are working with people of all faiths and none in 83 countries to promote stable marriage, family life and the protection of children through praying, enabling and campaigning. We support families and communities both in the UK and around the world. Since 1876, when Mary Sumner first brought together parents in her own parish to build their confidence in bringing up their children in the Christian faith, Mothers’ Union has grown to over 4 million members worldwide. Our members work around the world bringing hope and practical support to millions of people every year through our parenting, literacy and community development programmes and as part of the volunteer base of local churches.

Anyone who aspires to make a difference in their community by serving Christ is welcome. Members do not necessarily have to be mothers and anyone coming along to our meetings would be made most welcome.

Please note there will be other events during the year which are not yet shown on the programme.

Our "Wave of Prayer" is a continuous expression of our commitment in prayer to each other. It runs throughout the year so that the work and members of each and every area in which Mothers' Union is active are prayed for at some point. At any time during any day, MU members somewhere in the world are praying for people in different countries across the entire world.

The Stow-on-the- Wold branch of MU is part of the North Cotswold Deanery within the Diocese of Gloucester, and our Wave of Prayer takes place in early September each year.
